As many of you know, the heritage house at 2367 Marine Drive recently departed West Vancouver to begin a new life on Malcolm Island. The operation, carried out by Nickel Bros, took place during the night of November 2-3, 2020. Our official photographer, Tom Neilson, stayed up right through the night to capture the critical events during the move of the house from Dundarave to Ambleside. The series of photographs below shows the progress of the house along Marine Drive, which was completely closed to traffic for the occasion, and the several locations where the house was literally squeezed past traffic lights and under utility cables. The final obstacle encountered and overcome was the railway tracks and the grade-crossing signalling system. The critical deadline to make the drive onto the barge at the optimum high tide mark was met exactly on schedule. Thank you Tom for working while the rest of us slept!
