The Vancouver Heritage Foundation will be hosting a webinar workshop on the challenges of old windows and doors on December 10, 2020 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. A characterful element of many older homes, windows and doors are often the first target for replacement when pursuing energy efficiency goals. Keri Briggs, vice-president of Vintage Woodworks, will discuss some common issues with historic windows and doors that lead to their removal, including drafts, sticking sashes and cracked glass, and how they can be resolved without replacement. She will share how wood windows were originally crafted, and how that tradition can be used to decrease heat loss to make your home more comfortable and energy efficient.
Participants are invited to send photographs of their windows and doors in advance and Keri will address some of them during the Q&A portion. This informative one-hour webinar will be relevant for homeowners and professionals looking to improve the energy performance of an older home.
